I used to get the Elk exclusively but its super important you have 10 gems once you leave island 3, which is only possible if you get every gem and buy the farm statue (on island 2), the baker hermit and building statue (both on island 3). I dont think the elk or stable hermit are worth buying. On island 2 I only unlock the farm statue in case I get lucky with farm placements later in the game. On Island 2, grab all gems and again, rush for island 3.
